Support DA

Performing Arts Center

Beginning in 2016, our generous community joined together to fund the following projects which have been completed:
  • Renovation of the Elementary Building
  • Construction of the James E. Loan Athletic Center
  • Grew the Endowment Fund by $2MM
The Performing Arts Center is the final construction project funded by DA’s $25 million 50th Anniversary Building on Excellence capital campaign. Thanks to our generous donors, we were able to break ground in May of 2022 on the Louise McCabe Performing Arts Center. It will open for students in October of 2023.

The Performing Arts Center will shine a light on DA students' talents and passions. We continue to welcome gifts to the Performing Arts Center that will enhance the audio, visual, lighting, stage, and stagecraft extras that will make such a difference for our students - and the audience. With your help, we can raise these funds by the end of 2023.

The Show Must Go On!

"Our previous theater was not suitable for the dynamic performances that our students deliver."

Groundbreaking News

On May 18, 2022, we broke ground on our new Performing Arts Center and construction is almost complete. At DA, the theater is a place where students find their bliss, discover their courage, and learn new skills. We're excited to share this new space with our students and community in late 2023. Check out our video to see the groundbreaking and find out more!

Construction of a New Performing Arts Center

At DA, theater is a place where students find their bliss, discover their courage, and learn new skills. For seniors, it offers a rite of passage to master a Shakespeare play before exiting stage right. For some, it’s a chance to play an instrument and perform in front of an audience or find their voice through song.
What will you find in the new Performing Arts Center?
  • A grand theater with sectional seating and a mezzanine. Total seated capacity = 250 guests
  • A black box theater/classroom for intimate performances and classes
  • Improved sound, lighting and AV systems
  • Central lobby with ticket office and room for pre- and post-performance functions
  • Acoustic separation between spaces
  • A scene shop with rollup doors for easy access to the main stage
  • Expanded hallways and entrances for accessibility.
  • Five restrooms
  • Separation of front of house from back of house during performances
  • An outdoor facing restroom for athletic field activities
  • A convenient and dramatic entry located near parking and drop-off areas
Bigger and Better Spaces
The New Performing Arts Center will:
  • Increase the number of classes and programming that can occur simultaneously
  • Double the size of our main stage, lobby, and scene shop
  • Give DA a black box theater, make up and choral music rooms and a ticket office
  • Be a community gathering space for plays, talent shows, concerts, poetry slams, keynote lectures, symposiums, debates and assemblies.
  • Allow the entire lower school or entire high school to join together
Please join the cast by making a donation!
