Mr. Twarogowski has held almost every faculty position in his 25+ years at Denver Academy. He has taught all age levels, coached many sports and mentored dozens of teachers. Prior to his headship, Mark most recently served as Denver Academy's Director of Education, overseeing curriculum policies and all professional development for faculty. Mr. Twarogowski works closely with his assistant, Rebecca Musil.
Mr. Twarogowski earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado, Denver and holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Denver, where he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Education Leadership.
Ms. Lozow joined the Denver Academy community in 2001 as a parent (Jake Lozow '10) and has been part of the Development Team since 2003. As Director of Development, Karen manages all aspects of the Development Office, including all fundraising campaigns. Previously, Ms. Lozow ran a teacher training program for the Anti-Defamation League and was a speech pathologist in public and private schools. She is also a past president of the Junior League of Denver and a current trustee of the List Family Foundation.
Karen earned her B.S. in Communication Disorders from the University of Colorado, Boulder and her M.S. in Speech Pathology from Purdue University.
Ms. Devitt works deftly with foundations and corporate sponsors to bring critical funding to Denver Academy. While the process can sometimes be long and arduous, she most enjoys working on individual grants to help teachers implement great things in their classrooms. Shelley also devotes time to ensuring that grantors and donors see the true impact of a Denver Academy education.
Prior to DA, Ms. Devitt spent several years in the database marketing industry and developed an expertise in sales force automation.
Ms. Devitt earned her B.A. in Marketing from Metropolitan State University.
Ms. Hill joined the DA Development Team in the fall of 2018. She oversees and manages the Development database, gift processing, and provides instruction, support, and insight to other database users. Lori comes to DA with close to 25 years of experience in administration and data management in the non-profit, fundraising, and educational arenas.
Ms. Hill earned her B.A. in Cross-Cultural Communications from Seattle Pacific University with minor studies in sociology and accounting.
As the Development Associate, Ms. Verhoestra coordinates all fundraising events and manages The Fund for Denver Academy campaign. Prior to DA, Ms. Verhoestra worked on the development teams of two other non-profit organizations, fundraising for programs that helped people with disabilities. Ms. Verhoestra earned her B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in journalism studies from the University of Central Florida. When she is not at work, you can find her hiking and camping throughout the state, crafting, or spending time with her two dogs.
