Recently, DA juniors completed a Digital and Technology Literacy unit in their Junior Seminar class. This new unit, created and designed by Junior Seminar Teacher Ms. Wendi Gorelik, was in collaboration with DA's IT and Program teams. The goal of the unit was to help students have basic proficiency in the features of the hardware and software that they use while also gaining knowledge in best practices regarding technology use. 

Guest speakers and topics explored included:

-- Dr. Mindy Adair (DA Director of Mathematics & Technology Integration Specialist): Microsoft - Word, Excel, & Powerpoint; Google - Documents, Sheets, & Slides; Chrome Extensions

-- Mr. Austin Zaletal (DA IT Systems Administrator): Hardware - Windows, Apple, Chromebooks; Adobe Creative Suite; Video and Audio Editing

-- Mr. Anthony Slaughter (DA Director of Information Technology): Adobe Acrobat Pro (PDF creating, editing, combining files, form completion); Passport Applications forms. 

-- Mr. Tyler Sterling (DA IT Specialist): Digital Organization - Hard Drives and Google Drives (Naming Conventions, File Structures, Media and Photo Backups); Cyber Security: Basics, Creating Strong Passwords; Password Management; Cell Phone Security; Online Banking Best Practices; Hackers - what they do and how we can protect our data
