DA Student Senate Hosts Film Screening with Academy Award-winning Director
The DA Student Senate recently hosted a screening of the documentary Deaf President Now! which featured a live Q&A with Academy Award-winning director Davis Guggenheim. The film follows the 1988 student protest at Gallaudet University, a school for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, when a hearing candidate for university president was elected over other deaf candidates. The event helped to deepen the DA community's understanding of navigating the world with learning differences and raised more than $2,800 for DeafReach, a non-profit in Pakistan that supports deaf students.
