DA senior Ian J. has been selected as a recipient of the Boettcher Foundation Scholarship! The scholarship includes $20,000 per year for four years to a Colorado post-secondary institution.
With a 4.0 GPA, Ian has taken 12 college classes in two years and is graduating from Denver Academy with 39 college credits – just six credits from being a second-semester sophomore when he attends the University of Colorado in Boulder. Ian was also selected as the Valedictorian for the Class of 2026.
“Ian embodies all that Boettcher looks for in a student, including superior scholastic ability, intellectual curiosity, a demonstrated commitment to school and community activities, and strength of character,” says DA Director of College and Transition Counseling Aurora Medina.
As a theater student, Ian writes, acts, directs, and produces. His theatrical endeavors include RED, Sweeney Todd, Anastasia, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, and Matilda. He also won the Critic’s Choice Award at the 2024 Denver Thespian Convention. He was one of 16 winning acts (out of 2,000) chosen to perform at the convention.
“Ian really stood out with his commitment both in and out of the classroom,” said Tiffany Anderson, vice president of grants and programs. “We’re proud to have Ian representing the Boettcher community, and we look forward to seeing how his future leadership positively impacts the State of Colorado.”
Each year, more than 2,200 graduating high school seniors apply for the scholarship; only 50 are awarded. Incredible job, Ian!
