Jake Lozow, '10, Will O'Neill '09 and John Edwards '13, Startup Associates

We are proud to highlight three DA alums who are now part of the successful startup, Wrapmate. The company specializes in vehicle wrap designs to change the look of personal cars and fleets across the U.S. maximizing brand recognition during the pandemic. Wrapmate was recently profiled in the New York Times: " Vehicle Graphics Grow Importance As Marketing Tool."
 
Wrapmate was gearing up in the winter of 2019. As they say, timing is everything. As the world and the U.S. were shutting down to slow the spread of COVID-19, small business owners with mobile operations were looking for an opportunity to strengthen their marketing with vehicle graphics. 
 
Jake Lozow joined the Wrapmate team in June of 2019 as the Director of Operations. Jake, DA Class of 2010, majored in entrepreneurship with a minor in business at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Wrapmate is startup number two for Jake.
 
As the company gained traction, Will O’Neil, DA Class of 2009 joined the company as Director of Sales and Project Development. Will graduated from Prescott College (Prescott, AZ) with degrees in education and educational psychology. Soon after John Edwards, DA Class of 2013 came aboard as a Sales Associate. John graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a B.S. in geological sciences.
 
Wrapmate can create vehicle wrap designs for businesses using any design on any vehicle. Wraps can be installed in any U.S. city using exclusively 3M materials.
 
We asked our alums to answer some questions about how their DA education has impacted their lives:
 
What did DA teach you that allowed you to succeed in the start-up space?

Will: DA laid the foundation that gave me the strength to believe in myself, critically analyze what is and isn't working, and to commit to my choices.
John: Communication and having a creative approach to solving problems has been one of the greatest values that I have taken from my education from Denver Academy. 
Jake: At DA, I experienced many opportunities to challenge myself and adapt to new circumstances, like service-learning trips, sports teams, the senior Shakespeare play, and innovative classes geared to my learning style.
 
What do you value about DA alums as co-workers and employees?

Will: DA introduced me to some great friends that I know I can collaborate with easily, but it's our shared experience at DA that we can take into our future that helps us best work with each other's strengths and weaknesses.
John: Having excellent communication and trust with each other makes an effective workplace.
Jake: It’s great to connect with friends that share the same work ethic and desire to succeed in business.
