Congratulations, DA 2020 Virtual Art Show Winners

An Introduction by Kayla Wheat, DA Studio Art Teacher, NAHS Sponsor

Denver Academy's Art Show has always been a source of pride for our entire student body. We have a beautiful gallery space on campus and this year, our FIRST chapter of the National Art Honor Society (22 members strong!) was going to take over the curation.

Enter: Coronavirus

I had scrapped the idea of an art show altogether, not seeing how it could be possible.
The National Art Honor Society wouldn't give up on it and suggested we find a way to do it virtually.

That we did.

Denver Academy's 3rd Annual (Virtual) Juried Art Show was held via a virtual gallery, complete with a live "tour" sponsored by NAHS. Prizes were awarded for "Best Of" 7 categories, plus two "Grand Prizes" for "Best in Show" and "Viewer's Choice".

Art from any time within the 2019-2020 school year by DA Middle and High School students was welcomed and much came from "quarantine." The theme of the submitted artwork (over 80 pieces!) was prophetic, relevant and introspective, and sparked much conversation and community.

Through our virtual art show, Denver Academy's students showed just how flexible, resilient, and highly intelligent they are.

"Proud" is an understatement.
