Denver Academy Hosts Student Presentation & Public Event with Award-Winning Writer, Entrepreneur and Speaker Jonathan Mooney

Who:Denver Academy (DA), an independent school for diverse learners in grades 1 through 12 including those with dyslexia, ADHD and other learning differences; and award-winning author and speaker, Jonathan Mooney.  

What: Daytime student presentation and public evening event with Jonathan Mooney that includes networking, a presentation and book signing with the author of his latest book, Normal Sucks. Mr. Mooney’s latest book will be available for purchase at the event through the Tattered Cover Bookstore.     

When: Student Presentation (Private Event for DA High School students; Photos Available): Thursday, Sept. 19, 1:20 - 2:15 p.m.; Public Evening Event: Thursday, Sept. 19, 6:30 - 8 p.m., Networking: 6:30-7 p.m.; Lecture & Book Signing: 7 – 8 p.m.

DENVER, Colo. (Sept. 11, 2019) – Denver Academy (DA), an independent school serving diverse learners in grades 1 to 12, will host two presentations featuring the award-winning writer, entrepreneur and speaker, Jonathan Mooney, on Thursday, Sept. 19 in Denver Academy’s James E. Loan Athletic Center located on the Denver Academy campus. The private presentation for DA High School students will take place from 1:20 to 2:15 p.m. (photo opportunities available to the media upon request). The public evening event will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. RSVP by clicking here by Tuesday, Sept. 17 for the public event. 

The Evening with Jonathan Mooney features a short networking reception, as well as an inspiring lecture by the author and a book signing of his latest book, Normal Sucks. Mr. Mooney is also the author of The Short Bus and Learning Outside the Lines. Find out more about his books here.   

Denver Academy’s James E. Loan Athletic Center located on the southeast corner of Denver Academy’s 22-acre campus, adjacent to Richardson Hall. This new athletic center opened in May of 2019. A 25,000 square-foot facility, it has a regulation varsity-sized multi-use gym, complete with 500 seats, which now allows the school to host regional and state tournaments. The building includes additional features like locker rooms, a weight room and a dance studio. It will also provide a place where DA’s community of students and staff can all gather in one location. The new center has been named in honor of James E. Loan who was with Denver Academy from 1974 to 2008 and served in various roles for the school including as a teacher, fundraiser, administrator and as the DA Headmaster from 1992 to 2008.
