Mission Matters: The Berke Family

 
Denver Academy will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2022. As we plan for the next 50 years, we give tremendous gratitude to our supporters. Today, we give a special thank you to the Berke family for their generosity and support in shaping our future. We asked Kent and Valerie why they support DA. Here is their response:
 
As with many, our journey to Denver Academy took a bit of a winding path until we discovered this “hidden jewel” of a school. While we all understand that our children learn differently, in today’s day and age, schools have a tendency to teach all students in a similar manner. Denver Academy, through its incredibly talented, caring, and nurturing faculty and staff, has created a learning environment and community that allows our children to recognize their capabilities and build their confidences in ways that many had not identified previously.
 
Our daughter Rachel came to DA two years ago. While in her words, “Change is a scary, anxiety-triggering monster,” DA and its team made Rachel feel at home from the start in a way that was very focused on the individual Rachel is, providing an environment where she has achieved both personal and academic successes. We attribute Rachel’s growth to the very special place that DA is. For Rachel, DA’s Theater Department became a foundation and springboard for her gaining confidence and successes across many spectrums.
 
As we saw what DA provided for our daughter, we also saw what it provided for others. As a family, it is very important for us to support DA so that it will continue to be a haven for bright and diversely talented students who just do things a bit differently.  We want to do everything we can to continue to support the outstanding faculty and their tremendous contributions, and to provide for ever-improving facilities across all disciplines in order to allow DA’s infrastructure to continue to thrive and flourish.
