Coach Mick McLaughlin inducted into Colorado Dugout Club Hall of Fame

At the Colorado Dugout Club Coaches' Association's recent Hall of Fame induction banquet, DA Coach Mick McLaughlin was recognized for his baseball coaching career spanning nearly five decades.

Coach McLaughlin joined an elite group of seven high school baseball coaches and one umpire inducted into the Dugout Club Hall of Fame on January 13.

Adding to an impressive playing career, Coach McLaughlin began his coaching career at Machebeuf High School as an assistant. He later became the program's head coach for nine seasons, during which his teams were Denver Parochial League champions three times. Coach McLaughlin also had coaching stints at St. Mary's High school and Colorado Academy. He has been the Denver Academy head baseball coach since 1996. He has been recognized as baseball coach of the year for the Mile High League (MHL) seven times. Coach McLaughlin also coached in several summer league programs through the years including American Legion and semi-pro assignments.

Consistently serving in leadership roles throughout his career, Coach McLaughlin is well-respected in Colorado athletics. Cliff Hendrick, Athletic Director at Denver Christian School said, "We are blessed to have Mick and his thoughtful contributions to our league [MHL] deliberations and decisions through the years." Coach McLaughlin has been closely associated with the MHL since its founding in 1992, serving in variety of roles including as the league's president. He has been the Denver Academy Athletic Director since 2005.
 
"The world is a better place because of people like Mick," Rick Elertson, Athletic Director of Nederland Middle/Senior High School, said.
